Gedney Church End Primary AcademyWelcome to Gedney Church End Primary Academy

Helping each other to achieve and soar

We hope that our website will help you to learn a little more about our small learning community, our amazing children, supportive parents, committed teachers and dedicated governors. Together, we offer a creative and forward looking school where inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

Creativity is very important to us and we have worked hard to ensure that our children encounter a curriculum that provides enrichment and opportunity in equal measure. We understand that children learn best by seeing and doing, but it is the quality of care, guidance and support that enables them to reach their full potential through excellence and enjoyment.

Visits to the school are actively encouraged. You will find a very warm, friendly and professional welcome. We hope to hear from you soon.

Sports Day 2022

Thank you to everyone who came and supported our children on Sports Day. I think it is fair to say the children had a blast and it was very refreshing to have our first Sports Day back after Covid! Well done to all the children who raced, they were brilliant and tried their absolute bests. Well done to Esme, Isabel and Analise for winning their awards, and well done to Green Team for coming 1st!

Flower Festival Display

Our children have been contributing to the Gedney community by creating a Jack and The Beanstalk display for the church’s flower festival! Here are some of our children in Meerkats who helped make the finishing touches this week. We are very proud of the children’s artistic work!

Girls Keystone Cup – Friday 8th July

TThis Friday we attended the girls Keystone Cup Tournament at Tower Road. The girls played brilliantly and came in 2nd place for the Silver Cup. We also brought home the ‘Fair Play’ trophy for our good sportsmanship and determination. Find out more and see pictures on our Gallery page.

School Games Gold Award

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

Throughout this year, our school has attended various sporting festivals to encourage our children to take part in physical activity and engage in competitive sport, including getting involved in the community. Our target groups have been: disengaged pupils, girls, boys, and Y6 transition.

We have achieved the School Games Gold Award for our hard work and contributions to developing active lifestyles across our school community.

Y6 Rounders Transition – Wednesday 6th July

Our Y6 children travelled to UALS today for their transition event. They had the opportunity to meet other children that are attending the same secondary school in September, and took part in team building exercises with each other. The children behaved beautifully and did us very proud. To top it off we won the rounders match at the end of the day, scoring 6 rounders!

Sports for Schools – Sponsored Event

Today our children met Paralympian Sean Rose and his Sportivater, Ian! The children took part in a sponsored event where they had to do different fitness challenges for a certain amount of time. They enjoyed getting their hearts racing and cheering each other on! Here is a video to show you what they got up to. You can see more pictures on our Event Gallery page.

Mini Commonwealth Games 2022

We attended the Mini Commonwealth Games at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre this week and it was a truly fantastic day! Our children behaved beautifully and did us very proud. They participated in various Commonwealth sports, and got the chance to collect celebrity signatures! They danced and sang along with Elsa, and joined in with a group dance routine to close the ceremony. The children particularly enjoyed the American Football, Relay and Netball stations. A great day had by all.

You can see videos and pictures from the event on our Mini Commonwealth Games gallery page.

Jubilee Event

Firstly, we would like to thank you all for attending our Jubilee event last half term and supporting us with the bake sale donations and raffle. The fundraising money will be contributed towards a whole school trip for next academic year for the children.

We have raised a total of £246.37! Thank you so much to everyone who supported us, without you we would not have raised such a fantastic amount of money.

We aim to plan more events like this in the future so that we can continue raising money to provide our children with exciting opportunities.

Today the children had a great time cooking Chicken Bhuna Masala & Stromboli. We learnt various culinary skills such as chopping, stirring, folding and marinating. We also learnt the ‘claw’ and the ‘bridge’ technique! The children’s cooking was spectacular and both teachers and pupils approved of the delicious recipes!

Chameleons class: Class Dojo

For those who have a child/ren in the Chameleons class, you should receive an invite to 'class dojo'. This compliments our reward system used in school. The more points gathered the more valuable the prize will be.

It is always nice to see when your child has been awarded dojo's. So please join us online.

Chameleons Class Reading

Chameleons can now log on to Active Learn to begin accessing online interactive books. These are the same as the books we are sending home provided for you to share provided from bug club. These are suitable for your child's reading age and ability and will change accordingly.
