In Early Years, we believe that children learn best when they are happy, secure, curious and actively involved in their learning. Our experienced adults provide a careful balance of direct teaching, high-quality adult interaction and purposeful opportunities for children to explore, practise and apply their learning through play.

Teaching begins with what children already know and can do. Adults use their knowledge of each child to identify appropriate next steps, address gaps and provide the right level of support and challenge. Through carefully planned experiences and a stimulating learning environment, children build their knowledge, vocabulary and skills over time.

Adults play an important role in children's learning. They model language, introduce new vocabulary, ask purposeful questions, demonstrate new skills and encourage children to explain their thinking. At the same time, children are given opportunities to make choices, solve problems, persevere and become increasingly independent learners.

Our indoor and outdoor environments are carefully organised so that children can revisit and practise important learning in different contexts. Continuous provision is enhanced in response to our curriculum, children's interests and identified learning needs, helping children to make connections and securely embed what they have learned.

Above all, we want children to develop a genuine love of learning. By the end of Early Years, our ambition is for every child to have developed the knowledge, skills, confidence, independence and positive attitudes they need to thrive as they move into Key Stage 1 and beyond.
